The Web Server Gateway Interface (WSGI) defines a simple and universal interface between web servers and web applications or frameworks for the Python programming language.
Meinheld uses the high performance http_parser C tool and the event library picoev.
On a system with Intel Atom CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz, a memoy of 1G running on Ubuntu 10.04, the server managed to handle 2927.62 requests per second.
In the same test the fapws3 0.6 server handled 1293.53 requests per second.
