Essential Tips to Protect Yourself Against Hacking

This article is intended to give basic tips for protecting yourself on wireless networks and the Internet (it's safe to say that some of these tips are only for the paranoid, or those who work in extremely high-profile jobs). If you are worried about what you can do to protect yourself from hackers, start with these steps!

Do not use the wireless network if you can help. Always connect the cable and disable the wireless adapter when possible.

Do not use wireless networks in public places -. EVER

Use different passwords for each account you have - each email account, every forum, every blog - everyone. This will limit the damage, if someone violates one of your accounts.

Use long passwords with a combination of letters, numbers, special characters and nothing else, the password field will accept. Long means at least 11 characters. Know about the brutal shooting Dictionary attack? So!

Do not use another person's computer to check any of your accounts that you care -. Think about keyloggers, Abel, a cookie spoofing programs that could be installed

If you use someone else's computer, and really cared about safety, first download Spybot and run a check on your computer. If you find something, go and ask them what the hell they were playing on !!

Change your passwords monthly or even weekly, for the most important accounts. This in turn limits the chances dramatically in detecting hackers login details.

Also, check out this free software you can use to combat viruses and spyware, "Spybot Search and Destroy" and "Avira Antivir'-I've been using this software for years and it served me very well up to now

And finally ... If your passwords get stolen, would not be crazy, go nuts!
